About Patricia J. Anderson

I have always loved watercolors and many years ago I put learning to paint with water colors on my life list of things I wanted to do someday. In 2001 I was in Karlyn Holman’s gallery in Washburn and saw a flier for her 5 day workshop. It was time for me to start painting. Since that first class with Karlyn when I was an absolute beginner, I have continued to attend one of her workshops every year. I have taken several drawing classes and studied with other artists including Diana Randolph, Bonnie Broitzman, Marilyn Higgs, and Barbara Nietches. My goal is to master the medium of watercolor, but I have also incorporated ink, acrylic and papers into some of my work.

I prefer to paint subjects that I have experienced in some way such as in my gardening, the nature around me or in my travels. I am not interested in painting in exact detail or copying a photograph. Rather, I want to create an impression that connects to the viewer visually and emotionally.

I am a native of Wisconsin with a B.S. degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. I am a member of the the Cable Hayward Area Regional Arts Council, Chequamegon Bay Arts Council and the Jekyll Island Art Association. I have two grown sons and live in Drummond with my husband Ron and our dog, Rasta.
